West Asheville Wonderland
Our home base is a renovated quintessential West Asheville bungalow, but we’re most often out and about in the “field” - our neighborhood. By the end of the school year, we will be walking 3-4 miles each day!
Our time indoors is spent in a light-filled and thoughtfully prepared environment is designed specifically for children and features a child-sized kitchen, dish-, and hand-washing stations. Our indoor classroom features both Montessori materials and child-centered lessons and invitations to play that pique learners’ interest and foster curiosity. Hands-on materials are complemented by rich opportunities for creative expression, exploration, and holistic learning.
Ample outdoor time, art, science, and sensory experiences connect children to one another and the wonders of the world around them by offering an organic meaningful connection with foundational literacy, math, and social emotional learning to equip them for the next chapter in their educational journeys.

About Little Field School
Little Field School was founded in 2024 to create a joyful, community-rooted space where children learn through curiosity, creativity, and connection. Our approach blends the best of Montessori philosophy and the influence of the preschools of Reggio Emilia. Our emergent curriculum nurtures independence, a love of learning, and a strong sense of belonging — both in our classroom, the neighborhood, and the wider Asheville community.
Small & Intentional
Preschool should be focused on what’s most important: each child’s development and their sense of belonging to a community beyond the home. Our small class size and dynamic team of early childhood educators offer nurturing care and attention that is tailored to each child’s needs and interests. We create thoughtful, hands-on learning experiences that engage and invite curiosity. We cultivate an atmosphere of joy and connection between children, educators, and families by building authentic community through intentional, process-focused learning.
